Teaching humanities at Bay feels natural to Jared, as it harkens back to his experience of making sense of the human condition through literature as an adolescent. One experience that had a profound impact on Jared was when he apprenticed under a sacred earth tour guide in Sedona, Arizona after his first year of college. Being challenged to think of hisself in a new way, he left with a sense of responsibility to his community and a vision of his adult life in education.

When not at Bay, Jared is most likely at home with his family or having parenting adventures with his 8-year-old. Otherwise, he's at the studio, composing on electric guitar or refining his drum technique. Because one can only spend so much time in a windowlesss room, you might catch him running on the trains of Marin with a Phish or Dead show in his earbuds.

Name of your future autobiography: Harold Imperiled. This is my stage name in my musical life, my alter ego. It evokes a spirit of innocence, openness, and optimism that has led to adventure and transformation for much of my life. It's also not too serious or attached to outcome; I prefer to be in the moment and see how it goes.

Precept affinity: We value generosity; we share, giving and receiving help.
“This precept reflects my belief in the value of community and relationship. Further, I'm convinced that we each have something to contribute to the collective and that once we discover what that is, we have a duty to share it.”
