Why did you choose to attend The Bay School?
I chose to attend The Bay School because of the community, academics, and athletics. Bay is a school that values community, and I saw that from my very first visit. Bay's collaborative approach to learning and the support that is given to students is what stood out to me when talking to the current students. The sports and clubs that Bay offers allow me to explore my passions without having an overly stressed academic experience.
What has been your favorite class taken at Bay?
My favorite class at Bay has been Conceptual Physics. Conceptual Physics has been one of the hardest classes for me, however. It has also been so satisfying working with my classmates to understand concepts and challenging problems.
What is your favorite part of the Bay community?
My favorite part of the Bay community is how everyone is so supportive of each other. Morning Meeting is a time where a speaker talks in front of the whole school, and the community is always cheering them on. During announcement time, we celebrate each other when a team gets a big win, a birthday, or any special event for someone. This shows me that Bay's community is truly a supportive community.
What has been your most memorable experience at Bay?
My most memorable Bay experience has been playing my first soccer game on varsity. Although I didn't score a goal, I felt that I was a good asset to the team that day. I was so scared and nervous, but the support from my teammates and friends gave me the confidence to play well. That was a day that I will never forget.
You have successfully completed your first year as a Bay student. Looking back at your year, what would you tell yourself on the first day of school?
On the first day of school I would tell myself to just be yourself. You are unique, and if you don't have confidence in yourself, you won't show the world who you are. I would also tell myself to be open minded. High school is a new experience, and it's important to be open to new things. Everyone is on the same boat, so just don't put pressure on yourself to find friends on the first day. Be yourself, and the friends will naturally come.
What advice would you give to prospective students who are considering Bay?
I would tell prospective students that Freshman year is a process. The first day of school is not going to determine what all of high school is going to be like. Be patient and good things will come. Just focus on the moment rather than worrying about the future.
