Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,

On behalf of 375 students and their teachers, I thank you for exploring our school. At The Bay School, we balance challenging academics and innovative thinking with a mindful approach to learning and life. You will discover that we offer abundant opportunities for students to develop the skills, habits, and values that prepare them for the opportunities and challenges of the 21st century.

The only high school located in a national park, and in the nation's largest urban national park, The Bay School’s 1,400-acre Presidio campus offers a spectacular natural environment for learning and recreation, minutes away from the diverse resources of San Francisco. The Presidio is a hub of Bay Area innovation and sustainability, boasting over 200 green businesses and nonprofits to which Bay students have unique access.

The Bay School is a diverse, inclusive community strengthened by powerful student voices, participation, and leadership. Students, staff, and faculty strive to promote optimism, purpose, and respect for people and ideas. Cross-grade friendships grow as students take advantage of extracurricular, arts, service, and athletic opportunities. The more students engage with teachers and each other, the more they unlock their potential to become powerful, ethical citizens and leaders in the future.
To ignite a passion for learning and discovery in every one of our students, Bay’s curriculum offers more than 70 advanced-level electives across eight disciplines. Students take full advantage of these electives after completing core course requirements during 9th and 10th grades. Bay teachers are skilled, passionate subject area experts who are deeply committed to the young people they teach. They connect with their students in small classes and as advisors, coaches, and extracurricular activity mentors. The semester schedule and 80-minute, project-based classes encourage students to delve deeply into complex, real-world issues.

In addition to advanced electives, outstanding mentorship, and time for focus, Bay offers students the space and tools to apply their skills and knowledge. Adjacent to the main building, the Project Center provides a carpentry and machine shop, additional art studio space, and a headquarters for our Senior Signature Projects program. Bay’s highly-evolved tech program and sophisticated network platform give students unique opportunities to connect with others, conduct significant research, and develop content.

I invite you to explore our website further, join us for an upcoming open house event, or arrange a visit to experience The Bay School firsthand.
