Cara Vennari '08 visited Bay to talk with students at lunch about the practice of research science in the real world, considerations for pursuing a PhD, and her current work at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

Cara received her PhD in geophysics from UC Santa Cruz and was awarded  a National Science Foundation grant for her postdoctoral work at the University of Chicago. Her particular area of interest is the physical and chemical behavior of the Earth’s mantle. She has coauthored papers published in the Journal of Geophysical Research and American Mineralogist: Journal of Earth and Planetary Materials.

2018 Bay alumna wins Stanford engineering award


Angela Xie, Class of 2018, will receive the Frederick Emmons Terman Engineering Scholastic Award from Stanford. The award is given to the top 5 percent of seniors in the School of Engineering. Dorothy Jones, Bay’s Director of Enrollment Management and Strategic Engagement, will be on hand at Stanford on April 23 to see Angela receive the award.
