Philly Williams – Mathematics
B.A., Mathematics and English Literature, Sewanee: The University of the South
A former professional whitewater kayaker and current over-enthusiastic cyclist, Philly joins Bay after teaching at the Horace Mann school in NYC for 7 years. Philly has taught math in independent schools since 2009, leading students through topics from Euclidian to Fractal Geometries (and almost everything in between). While his academic background is something of a chaotic collection of the disparate elements of mathematics and literature, Philly is always happy to describe how these disciplines -- in different, but complementary ways -- explore the concepts of chaos and infinity in orderly ways. Philly is excited to be with his family in San Francisco, both for the outdoor opportunities and the chance to grow as a teacher at Bay!
