Michael grew up on a blueberry farm in Sonoma County while attending a dual immersion elementary school; his passion for Spanish language and cultures really took off in the 6th grade when his family moved to live in Córdoba, Spain for a year. Later on he traveled to Argentina as a high school exchange student, returned to Spain to study abroad at the University of Granada, and taught English at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro while learning Brazilian Portuguese. Michael has been active in a number of professional programs; he is president of the Foreign Language Association of Santa Clara County and regularly presents on core teaching practices at local, state, and national conferences. Michael enjoys playing the guitar, singing with friends, dancing salsa, and is delighted to be part of the Bay team!
