Bio

Jane Uyeda - Humanities

B.A., East Asian Studies, Columbia University
M.A., Education Leadership, Teachers College, Columbia University

Jane has been teaching in various independent schools for 24 years and came to The Bay School in 2011. She was attracted to Bay by the openness, thoughtful approach, and sense of optimism among both students and adults. She continues to be excited about opportunities around innovation, project-based learning, and integrated learning opportunities. Outside of school, Jane has been training with Shotokan Karate of America for 33 years and is one of the instructors at the SKA’s San Francisco Dojo. She also enjoys cycling with her family in Napa and introducing her son to her favorite childhood TV series, notably Speed Racer, Get Smart, and the original Star Trek. Her favorite books include Democracy and Education (Dewey), Midnight’s Children (Rushdie) and Anathem (Stephenson)
