Elaine Cocuzzo, Chief Financial and Operations Officer
B.S., Biology, University of Massachusetts, Amherst
A New Englander at heart, Elaine is originally from Massachusetts. Once she’d decided against medical school, or a career as a research scientist, Elaine accidentally discovered she loved accounting and wound up spending her first four years as an accountant with a small CPA firm in Boston. When her personal life brought her to the Bay Area, she worked at an entrepreneurial real estate development company before entering the non-profit world. The Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired in San Francisco challenged her for the next thirteen years, where she served as Director of Finance and Operations/CFO. During the Lighthouse years, weekends usually found Elaine hanging from a big rock somewhere in Southern Yosemite, where she and her climbing partner put up new climbing routes. After the Lighthouse, Elaine started her own company: RemoteController Accounting Services. This new venture brought Elaine to The Bay School in 2004, just in time for their first Balance Sheet audit. Malcolm handed over the “shoe boxes” of receipts and paperwork, and an electronic company was created. In her free time, Elaine has a passion for knitting, practices yoga, spends oodles of time with Finnegan the wonder dog, and enjoys watching her creative husband perform improv.
