Why did you choose to attend The Bay School?
I chose to attend The Bay School because of how inclusive and inviting the community seemed. Everyone was so friendly and inviting; I felt really welcomed. I also chose to come here for high school because of the small class sizes. This was something I didn't see at a lot of the other schools I looked at. Student-Teacher relationships were something I was really looking for in a school, and small class sizes really allow for that to be possible.

What has been your favorite class taken at Bay?
My favorite class at Bay has been Humanities 1. I have always loved reading and writing, and this class really allowed for me to dive deep into literature and to learn about myself through my writing. I have loved all the books we've read this year, and I feel as though they helped me learn about my identity. The types of activities and assignments we do are really varied, and have allowed for very interesting class discussions. I also learned in this class how to participate in a Socratic Seminar, which is now something I really enjoy doing.

What is your favorite part of the Bay community?
My favorite part of the Bay community is how kind and welcoming it is. From the first time I visited Bay, I immediately felt welcomed. Everyone from the staffulty to the upperclassmen are so kind and friendly. Having a community filled with kindness and welcomeness is something Bay really values.

What has been your most memorable experience at Bay?
My most memorable experience at Bay has been my immersive between the first and second semester. I was in the Biology of Health and Wellness immersive. Immersives are a three-week course where you study deeply into a certain subject. Three weeks for one class allows for field trips, varied activities, and really detailed learning. During my immersive, we got to try out many different types of exercise classes. This was really interesting for me because I learned a lot about different ways to exercise. Immersives are a really unique experience, and they allow for a lot of innovative learning.

You have successfully completed your first year as a Bay student. Looking back at your year, what would you tell yourself on the first day of school?
I would tell myself on the first day of school to try something new as a 9th grader. I joined Model UN, which was something I never really thought I'd be doing. I think that trying new things as a freshman is really important because it allows you to meet new people, and to find something you may end up loving. Whether you join a club, activity, or sport, you'll find people who have the same interests as you, and you might even find something that becomes your passion.

What advice would you give to prospective students who are considering Bay?
High School is one of the most important stages of your life. Choosing somewhere that you think you'll be happiest is extremely important. I think that finding a school that you think you'll be happiest is the best mindset to have while looking at prospective schools.
