Why did you choose to attend The Bay School?
I thought it was a perfect match for me academically, as it had a lot of courses and activities to choose from. It was just the right size, and I loved the community.

What has been your favorite class taken at Bay?
I think my favorite class has been my Drawing. This class allowed me to really enjoy drawing and even developed my own style.

What is your favorite part of the Bay community?
My favorite part of the Bay community is definitely my friends, as I have made some great friends at Bay who I have a really fun time with inside and outside of school. They are a huge support for me.

What has been your most memorable experience at Bay?
I think a lot of my memorable Bay experiences have revolved around me feeling validated as a person. I struggled in freshman year with my learning plan because I was coming to terms with accepting my physical difference. I began to reach out to my friends, and I learned that a lot of them were similarly uncoordinated or had learning plans with accommodations like me. Knowing that they were like me, allowed me to accept my difference more.

You now have two years of Bay under your belt, what is the one thing you have learned most about yourself? How has Bay helped you discover that?
So far at Bay, I have learned a lot of social skills. When I came to Bay I had a hard time with collaboration and successfully completing my assignments. I have improved at negotiating, listening to other people's ideas, facilitating to decide who will work on what part of the projects and when, and helping everyone stay on task. At the end of my sophomore year, my projects have been extremely collaborative and successful.

What advice would you give to prospective students who are considering Bay?
Trust your instincts about what schools you like; I went with that instinct and chose to come to Bay, and I'm very glad that I did.
