Performing Arts

Burst into song, deliver a soliloquy. Bay loves to watch its students perform, which they do regularly in formal and informal ways.

Theater

The Bay Theater program mounts full-scale dramatic and musical productions as well as one-acts directed and performed by students. Theater Director Denise Blase brings a wealth of experience and connections, ensuring that students get training in all areas of stagecraft.

Each production offers a wide variety of ways to be involved, and an enthusiastic group of students make up every cast and crew. They serve as stage managers, set designers, light and sound designers, and publicists. Participation in Bay Theater counts toward credit in the Activities program.

Music

The Bay School Jazz Club performs at school gatherings and around the Bay Area. Our young musicians get instrument instruction and practice consistently to hone their skills and develop their ensemble playing. Jazz students perform, go out to listen to jazz in real clubs, and sometimes perform in them as well. The club leaders are a group of students who collaborate with music director Colin Williams, a professional jazz bassist who tours all over the world. Our academic jazz program develops deep musicianship in students.

Have you ever heard a song on the radio and wished you could learn it, but the sheet music was too expensive or your instrument didn’t have any good parts? Groove Club was made for you. Colin Williams takes suggestions for pieces the group wants to play, gets the sheet music, and helps everyone to learn and interpret the piece as a group. Groove Club is a chill environment to experiment with pop music, TV show themes, and anything else you want to play. All skill levels are welcome.
