What are the causes of Global Warming? |
||||||||||
The current climate change is due to both natural and human causes. Some of the natural and human-made greenhouse gases are water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). However, the increase of CO2 is the major cause of the current climate change.
A solution for global warming is to stop emitting CO2, but this is easier said than done. Our economy basically runs on fossil fuels which release CO2, so talking it away completely would “literally stop the industrial world” (Global Warming Facts and Our Future). CO2 is used mainly a byproduct of industry, but transportation, residential, commercial, and agricultural activities all release CO2.
One of the main human activities that is adding to the problem of global warming is the emission of heat-trapping gases into the atmosphere. Our extensive burning of fossil fuels is one of the major sources of these gases. These gases are being emitted every time we “drive a car, use electricity from coal-fired power plants, or heat out homes with oil or natural gas” (Global Warming FAQ). The main natural cause of greenhouse gases is deforestation and any changes in land-use. |
