The Bay School of San Francisco, an independent, coeducational college preparatory high school located in the Presidio of San Francisco

Building for the Future

Realizing the Bay School Vision

The process of founding The Bay School of San Francisco began as an inspiring dream and challenge almost ten years ago. A dedicated and farsighted board of trustees comprised of experienced educators, business and civic leaders, as well as parents came together. They shared a common vision and commitment to establish a new independent high school in San Francisco – with a mission focused on preparing students for roles of leadership and engagement in the dynamic world of the 21st century.

The dream was realized in the fall of 2004 as the Bay School opened with a distinguished inaugural faculty and a student body of 62 motivated and capable freshmen, the Class of 2008. At the start of the 2005-06 academic year the next important milestone was reached as the school moved into its beautiful permanent campus at 35 Keyes Avenue at the center of the Presidio of San Francisco – welcoming the freshman Class of 2009. Admission of the Class of 2010 in fall 2006 and the Class of 2011 in fall 2007 bring the Bay School to full enrollment of grades 9-12. We’re now looking forward to our first graduation in spring 2008!

The future holds much in store. The board of trustees, along with committed parents and friends, look ahead with great excitement to implementing the school’s full academic and extracurricular programs as well as planning for a dedicated gymnasium and performing arts facilities.
