Faculty

The Bay School faculty brings our mission to life. In addition to having extensive knowledge and skills related to their specific areas of expertise, our teachers possess a deep understanding of individual learning styles and are flexible in adapting their teaching methods to engage each student. They have extensive instructional experience at the high school level, and many have taught at the university level as well. More than sixty percent of Bay School teachers hold advanced degrees, several in more than one discipline.

Bay School teachers are a diverse group of educators—all of whom possess a genuine interest in and affection for teenage students. They are also lifelong learners—committed to reinvention and inspired by the challenge of exploring the complex issues and questions surrounding science and technology, culture, and religion in the modern world. They work closely and collaboratively together across disciplines to create and deliver an academic program that engages and inspires their students, making learning challenging, active and fun.

The school's faculty is comprised of master teachers having extensive educational backgrounds in the humanities, sciences, mathematics, foreign languages, and the arts. Support staff, including our academic dean, dean of students, college counselor, learning specialist, librarian, and chaplain, also play important roles in realizing the depth of the Bay School program. In addition to teaching, members of the faculty and staff serve as advisors to student clubs and activities as well as athletic team coaches and physical activity class leaders. These multiple opportunities for teachers and students to interact foster close bonds between them, both inside and outside the classroom.
