Senior Signature Projects Instructor

The Bay School Senior Signature Projects (SSP) program provides students in their last year of high school with the opportunity to undertake a project in a field of study about which they are passionate. The program emphasizes depth of study, independent project management, creative problem-solving, resourcefulness, and rigorous exploration in an academic area of interest. Under the guidance of a Senior Signature Projects instructor, each senior develops an essential question that guides his or her inquiry, researches and crafts a project idea, outlines a detailed work plan, collaborates with a mentor working outside the school, and executes a project that both synthesizes his or her learning and benefits communities broader than her/himself. Projects culminate in a final presentation that demonstrates the student’s learning and a synthesizing piece that represents the student’s efforts.

The instructor is responsible for 2-3 courses each trimester (the fall trimester begins in August). Each class meets for 80 minutes four times a week in a rotating schedule. These class meetings may be with the full class or may be used for one-on-one student meetings.
