The Bay School offers an interscholastic athletics program grounded in the dual values of broad participation and competitive integrity. Bay athletes, coaches, spectators, parents and guardians see sports as a vehicle for personal growth and self-discovery. As part of the California Interscholastic Federation
(CIF) Bay Counties League
–Central Division (BCL-Central), Bay supports 23 girls, boys, and coed teams across 10 sports. Almost 70 percent of our students play on an athletic team and 100 percent participate in a sport or physical activity.
|Our coaching staff is comprised of lifelong athletes who are experienced, ethical and enthusiastic educators. Their commitment to athletic excellence mirrors the high standards of our academic program. Bay athletes earn all-league team honors every season, and in its relatively short history the school has brought home 24 league championships and numerous berths in North Coast Section playoffs.|

Our guiding precepts
include valuing a healthy, strong body and calm, resilient mind. In light of this, we require that students who do not play on a sports team participate in physical activities. These activities meet on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 3:45 to 5 p.m. two trimesters a year, and offer a range of activities at the school, Letterman Gym
, Presidio Dance Theater
, Planet Granite
, A Body of Work Studio
and the Presidio YMCA
. They include dance, rock climbing, yoga, group exercise and strength training. Additional activities classes are offered based upon student interests, availability of instructors and seasonal considerations. Through these activities, our students experience the benefits of physical activity that inspire adoption of these healthy practices for life.
